The Diamond Jewellery Studio Snatches Rio Tinto 2020 Argyle Diamond Tender Bid
The jeweller successfully bid for one of only 62 diamonds from this year’s Rio Tinto Argyle Diamond Tender, taking the bid ahead of well-known domestic and overseas bidders.

The Diamond Jewellery Studio is now the proud winner of one of the rarest diamonds from the final collections produced in Australia’s oldest Argyle diamond mine, and emerging as one of the winners in Rio Tinto’s 2020 Argyle Pink Diamonds Tender.

The annual tender is widely recognised as the most exclusive coloured diamond sale in the world, open only to an elite group of Argyle partners, Ateliers and diamantaires, which included The Diamond Jewellery Studio’s Nick Ireland. This year’s tender, aptly titled ‘One Lifetime, One Encounter’, showcased 62 red, pink and violet blue single diamonds unearthed from the mine. It was one of the last offerings before the mine finally closes after almost four decades of production.

The Argyle Diamond Tender Brought Highly Competitive Bidding from Both Domestic & Overseas Bidders

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, viewings for the Argyle tender were first done virtually before the diamonds were made available for viewing in person in Perth, Singapore and Antwerp. The bidding process was a closed tender, and it ended on Wednesday, December 2. Bids were lodged electronically and the winners were notified the following day.

The 2020 tender was one of the most competitive ones to date. Argyle received some of the highest bids ever on similar diamonds from the previous tenders.

“This year, we had the opportunity and privilege to bid on behalf of one of our clients looking to secure one of these last rare diamonds being offered at the tender,” Nick Ireland said.

The Significance Of The Diamonds Offered At The Tender

The Diamond Jewellery Studio already has its own breathtaking collection of pink diamonds for sale from both Argyle partner allotments and special Argyle mini tender pink diamonds as you can see on The company is ecstatic to add to its collection one of the Argyle Signature Tender diamonds.

Only the finest Argyle diamonds were offered, each distinguished for intense and vibrant colour. They’re exceptionally rare and valuable, representing less than 0.01 percent of diamonds taken from the mine. Prices for these tender diamonds can exceed millions of dollars per carat.

Nick Ireland stated: “We were delighted to find out on Thursday 3rd December that our bid was successful on one of the diamonds. Out of the 62 diamonds, many have gone to overseas purchasers, so our clients were elated to find out they are in fact the new owners of one of these spectacular diamonds.”

Looking Forward To Rio Tinto’s Next & Last Argyle Diamond Tender

The last Argyle tender will be held in 2021, and The Diamond Jewellery Studio is already gearing up for another chance of owning these rare precious stones. The company is hopeful that it will be again successful in keeping one of these magnificent gems in its country of origin.
